A Small Moment of Silence

The down side of constantly having my head glued to a screen constantly watching holes being filled and rammed is that you sorta let life pass you by. Though I’ve kept up with notable deaths via email blitzes (Michael Jackson, Farrah Fawcett, Ed McMahon, David Carridine to name a few), some things have slipped by me.
One of New York’s primary nightlife magazines, HX, has ceased publication since June 30th of this year. I know this isn’t hard hitting news, but it does bring a tinge of sadness to my heart. When I was growing up, eagerly awaiting the moment I would leave home so I could openly and freely enjoy life, HX would provide a glimpse (however little semblance) of pop gay life through articles about theater, music, television and NY nightlife.
I am deeply sorry to see the magazine go and know that many New Yorkers feel the same way.
